When the inevitable uncertainty and fear arise in your life, where do you turn? Who do you put your trust in? When Mary was faced with impossible odds, she trusted in the Lord! We should strive to trust in the Lord and embrace His plans for us—no matter how impossible they may seem! Mary embraced her role as the maidservant of the Lord—you should embrace your role in God’s Kingdom too!
When Mary had initial doubts, Gabriel comforted her by saying the following: “…Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail!” (Luke 1:36-37, NIV). Gabriel made it clear, God’s plans always work out—they never fail!
Even despite this, there was plenty of room for Mary to still be skeptical of the possibility, fearful of what others would say, and uncertain of her ability to carry the Son of the Highest. Yet, despite the possibility for these, Mary’s response exuded confidence in the Lord! In Luke 1:38, she said, “I am the Lord’s servant. May your word be fulfilled.” We should strive to display this same confidence and trust in our God!
No matter what the circumstance is, or how impossible it may seem to overcome, God always has the last word. When we recognize His ultimate power in any situation, we start to approach things with a different mindset. We can trust in and have confidence in the word of our Lord! His plans will always work out in the end!
