Do you ever feel like you’re not getting what you think you deserve out of life? We know that the Bible says to simply “ask and receive,” so, what are we doing wrong? Could it be that we’re keeping ourselves from God’s best because we are putting Him in a box?
We may not realize it, but oftentimes we tell God “no” when He says “yes” because it doesn’t line up with our expectations. In Acts 10:12, God presented Peter with a vision of “all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, with beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air” (NKJV). God urged him to eat, but Peter told God “No!”
What Peter didn’t realize was that God’s intention was for his good and not to harm him. Prior to this instance, some animals were considered unclean and not to be eaten and Peter allowed his personal conviction to get in the way of God’s liberation. All God wanted to do was push Peter out of his comfort zone, so that he could relate to all of God’s people, regardless of their customs or backgrounds.
God’s plan for us is no different than it was for Peter. He knows us better than we know ourselves and He knows exactly what we need for growth. Truth is, we choose to limit ourselves when we are led by our own rules instead of following God’s lead!
Like Peter, you may be doubting God’s direction and creating limitations where there should be none. I want to encourage you to say “Yes” to God, knowing that He will not withhold any good thing from you. If you want to receive everything He has in store for you, let go of your doubt and never leave God’s offer on the table!
