The Bigger Picture

Be intentional to stay focused on what truly matters

Oftentimes, people start strong in their walk with the Lord, then gradually decline in the coming days, months, years. Some fail to invest time in prayer, others in God’s Word. Usually, this is not intentional, but instead is the result of life’s distractions piling up and making us lose our focus on the bigger picture. We must be intentional to stay focused on what truly matters and not let the little difficulties of life distract us!

First and foremost, you are a child of God. Before your job, where you’re from, your name, your family, or anything else. As a child of God, you have every reason to rejoice. The creator of the universe and the One who knit you together in your mother’s womb loves you and wants to grow in relationship with you and transform you. If we keep our focus on this eternal truth, the little situations in our life can’t bring us down!

Whether it’s debt, relationship struggles, health issues, or anything else, it is nothing in comparison to the joy you should be dwelling on. While the situation may be bad, it is only temporary at best – rejoice in what you know is eternal! Remember God’s promises, protection, and provision in the midst of your storm.

In closing, we will face adversity in life. We will face obstacles, pitfalls, and hang-ups. How we react to these outward stations internally is of the utmost importance. Don’t let them distract you from what is really important in your life.  Remain focused on God and His plans; remain focused on the bigger picture!
