Are you facing a seemingly impossible mission with limited time to find a solution? Well, the Gospel of Luke shows us the kind of faith it takes to find the answers we need and to experience real change and healing.
In Luke 17, as Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem, He passed through Samaria. The Samaritans had a historic rivalry with the children of Israel. And yet, Jesus seemed to go out of His way to pass through this region of rejected people. While there, He encountered the social outcasts of the day: lepers.
These 10 leprous men were forbidden by law to approach anyone; so they should have avoided Jesus completely. But these men were willing to risk everything to do whatever they needed to get their miracle. They cried out to Jesus, asking for healing and Jesus responded!
So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. (Luke 17:14 NKVJ)
They did exactly as Jesus instructed, and as they obeyed, they were all miraculously healed! But, only one man returned to thank Jesus. He did so with a loud voice, falling on his face, and as a result, he received a double miracle:
And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.” (Luke 17:19 NKJV)
What this leper shows us is that we must live our faith out loud. When God has performed a miracle in our lives, we need to outwardly express our gratitude. We can’t complain loudly and praise in silence!
Are you like the nine who got their healing and moved on or like the one who returned to give Jesus praise? If you are stuck, your miracle may be closer than you think. But, we must remember that it’s not enough to just follow God’s instructions but to go after Him in a loud and boisterous way. The world needs to see us living out loud and praising our Father out loud for the wonderful things He has done!
