Keep Your Head Up

Keep Your Head Up

You know, life can be challenging! Problems in our relationships, finances, or even our health can leave us discouraged and depressed. There is no doubt about it…the struggle is real! But, in trying times, you have only two choices: stay down in pain or keep your head up in faith!

God knows exactly where you are and wants to meet you in your situation to lift you up. We see this in Luke, chapter 7. Jesus was passing through a city called Nain with His disciples when He came upon a funeral procession. The mourners were carrying a young man to his final resting place, and his weeping mother was leading the way. The woman was already a widow, so the loss of her only son wasn’t just heart-rending, it also affected her financial security.

Was it mere coincidence that Jesus, the great Healer, happened to be passing by at the moment she needed Him most? Of course not! There are no coincidences with God!

Jesus saw the amount of pain and agony the woman was in and His heart was moved with compassion for her. He didn’t minimize her emotions, but He reminded her to keep them in check. Jesus said to her, “Do not weep,” not because she shouldn’t, but because of what He was about to do. He touched the open coffin and told the young man to get up, and at the sound of Jesus’ voice, the young man revived and arose!

There is nothing that you have gone through, are going through, or will go through that Jesus does not have compassion for! He loves you and is there with you in every challenge. We all experience tragedy and trials, there’s no denying that. Still, we cannot let our emotions rule over us. Regardless of the circumstances we face, we must learn to keep our heads up and our thoughts focused on God, trusting Him to work in ways that only He can. So, you can either get comfortable in your depression or give your situation to God and keep moving.

Live Big!
