I want to highlight 3 things we can learn about responding to God’s Word from the Parable of the Sower.
- Jesus wants to get personal with you. We can listen to all the sermons and read all the books we like, but at the end of the day, our foundation must be built on a personal relationship with Christ. Connecting with God’s word through the lense of relationship is the key to truly understanding it.
- Jesus is after the heart. His intention was not to simply “wow” the crowd, He was after eternal change for those He taught. Our intentions should be the same. We must allow God’s word to be planted in our hearts so it can take root and transform us into the image of Christ.
- Jesus wants us to seek truth wholeheartedly. The Parable of the Sower is designed to help us identify a heart that is not open to God’s word, versus a heart that embraces it. There is a direct correlation between our spiritual health, and our hunger for truth. So, we must remain and passionate and seek God with our mind, soul and strength!
Responding to God’s word by understanding it, being changed by it and continually embracing it is what will produce results in our lives, and release us to share His Good News with others.
