Have you started hiding what you want out of disbelief that you could ever have it? Have you pushed away certain desires of your heart because it’s been “too long?” The problem is that when you want something so badly for so long without results, you’ll stuff it down to avoid further disappointment.
Are you ready to be honest with yourself about what you really want in your life?
Jesus wants to give you your dignity back, squaring your shoulders so that you can stand and operate on your own. You don’t need anyone to fix it for you. If God is for you, it’s enough. He’s changed your mind and changed your heart. Rise up!
Are you ready to become what Jesus made you to be? Are you ready to leap from your bed of sin and rise up to His challenge?
The Bible shares a story with us, in John chapter 5, of a man who was really sick, burdened by a disease that left him an invalid for 38 years. He was one of many who laid by the pool in the city, hoping to be healed. In John 5:4, the Bible says that an angel would come down and touch the water; whoever was the first in the pool was healed.
This man had been sick for 38 years! He was never the first one in the pool… and after a while, his hope ran out.
And along came Jesus.
In John 5:6, the Bible says that Jesus saw the man. He was among many and yet, Jesus saw only him. We can take encouragement from that because you may feel like you’re one in a multitude of people, but God sees only you. Jesus never sees a crowd. He only sees you!
In spite of where he was, and where you are, Jesus still saw him and will still see you. Whether you’re wrapped in paralysis, trapped by an event, or even when you feel stuck with no way out, Jesus sees you. He doesn’t see you as defined by your problems. He sees just you.
Your pain and dysfunction can trick you into thinking your situation is normal. But don’t design your life around that weakness. When you open yourself to hope, by not accepting pain and suffering forever, you receive God’s healing. When you believe there’s a way out, you can be made well.
The Bible says that Jesus asked the man, right off the bat, “Do you want to be made well?”
Jesus gave him the choice. He won’t force healing on you.
The problem is, the man lost his “want to.” He’d been waiting for so long, for something his heart desired so much, that he chose to give up as an alternative to safe-guarding his heart from further disappointment. However, God will fix your problems when you get your “want to” back. If you have the faith to want to, God has the power to give it to you!
When you activate, in your heart, a genuine confidence in God’s capability, you can do anything.
No matter what you’re going through, God can deliver. You simply need to trust Him and get your “want to” back! Release your faith in the “want to.” He’ll give you back more than you can even imagine!
