Confidence: His work or Our works?

Taking Action

Confidence: His work or Our works?

In the second half of Hebrews chapter 10, the author of Hebrews lays out the basis for the confidence we have in Christ Jesus, and why we can walk boldly into the presence of God. In light of this truth, the author of Hebrews encourages us to remember 3 key things:

  1. Remember The Source of Our Confidence. It’s not by works, but by the blood of Jesus alone, that we are saved and able to enter God’s presence. We must resist the urge to think that our actions help or hinder our salvation. Jesus’ work was accomplished once and for all!
  2. Remember That He Is Always With Us. In the good, bad, ups and downs, God never leaves us. We are not hopelessly chasing some distant being who can not be found. No, through it all He is with us, embracing us, leading us and teaching us.
  3. Remember Your Purpose. When you accepted Christ as Lord, He in turn gave you the Holy Spirit. Now, through His Spirit, God is working His perfect plan in and through you. Even when we can’t see what He’s doing, we must be confident that He’s at work, making us more like Him.

So, may we divert our focus away from our works, but toward the finished work of Christ. When doubts or fears arise, remind yourself of who Jesus is, what He’s done, and who you are in Him! This is how we can approach God and live our lives in true confidence!

Live Big!
