Did you know that just one conversation has the power to change a person’s life forever?

Part of our job as believers is to help bring people into the Kingdom of God. The truth is, everyone is hungry and searching for God, and sometimes we are the ones who must lead them to the table.

While the Word of God has the ability to transform lives, we have to be willing to step out and go the extra mile to share and explain the Word…even when we’re uncertain of the outcome.

Oftentimes, God does His greatest works where others don’t want to go.

Acts 8:30-31 (ESV) says, “So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, ‘Do you understand what you are reading?’ And he said, ‘How can I, unless someone guides me?’ And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.”

This scripture speaks of an Ethiopian eunuch who was reading the Word and attempting to seek God, but didn’t quite understand what he was reading. Had Philip not come along to help him, the eunuch might have missed his moment to meet God.

We need to know that each moment we have on this Earth is a chance to truly change a life. However, there is an art to reaching and influencing people. In fact, there are 9 keys to ensure that each encounter with someone leads to a positive impact:

1. We must learn to be led by the Holy Spirit
2. We have to be willing to meet people where they are
3. You have to catch people at the right time
4. It takes effort to reach people
5. People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care
6. People need someone to help them understand
7. You cannot influence people you avoid
8. Some people will never hear unless you tell them
9. You have to learn to close the deal

If you read the entire story of Philip and the eunuch, you’ll see that all of these keys were present and executed. By the end of the interaction, Philip was gone, but the eunuch had been baptized and was rejoicing in the joy of the Lord.

When it comes time to reach and influence people, there is no place we as believers cannot go. God has already put certain people within your reach and given you the tools you need to influence them.

Remember, an opportunity of a lifetime only lasts for the lifetime of that opportunity. Don’t miss it.
